Michelle started her career in the tourism industry and then entered the development sector, more specifically, in disaster management at Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Sri Lanka (A-PAD SL), in the year 2016. Her experiences range from programme management, implementation, policy and strategic planning, in the humanitarian response sector. She is a certified trainer in humanitarian thematic areas and has now entered the development sector with World University Service Canada in Sri Lanka. She is the first female in Sri Lanka’s first Search and Rescue Team, certified both locally and internationally in Level 01 & 02 – Swift Water Rescue.
